July 6 UPDATE: We are at capacity for the Wednesday 5-7 PM session already!

We want to keep the numbers conductive to good discussion, so we are adding a second time slot. This one will also accomodate folks in additional time zones.

The added discussion session will be Fridays, 10 AM - Noon Central (Chicago) time, starting September 27, every two weeks through December 6. Any additional signups will be for this time slot.

DESCRIPTION AND DATES:

The Behavior Works Book Club is a guided reading group for animal professionals who want to deepen their grounding in the science of behavior change and its underlying philoslophy. Members will read approximately one book chapter per week, and meet once every two weeks for a discussion. Facilitator Kiki Yablon, MA, will provide study questions to consider while the reading and to inform disucssion. There is no eligibility requirement for membership, but graduates of Living and Learning with Animals will receive a $25 discount.

Price: $175 for 12 weeks/6 meetings

The first book we’ll read will be About Behaviorism, by B. F. Skinner, written to explain the philosophy that underlies the science of behavior analysis to a lay audience. This session of Book Club will officially begin September 11, 2024, with the first meeting two weeks later.

Meetings are from 5 PM to 7 PM Central on the following Wednesdays:

BIO:

Kiki Yablon, MA, KPA CTP, CPDT-KA, is a dog behavior consultant and educator who makes behavior science accessible and practical for animal professionals and pet guardians. Kiki has been a co-instructor for Behavior Works’ flagship course, Living and Learning With Animals, since 2014, and in 2022 earned her master’s degree in applied behavioral science from the University of Kansas, where her thesis research examined an intervention for excessive human-directed barking in dogs. In addition to helping her dog training clientele in Chicago, Kiki serves as faculty for the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior and has presented at conferences including those hosted by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants Foundation, Karen Pryor Clicker Training, and the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
